Page 1 Green Solutions Program
The Page 1 Green Solutions Program is a triple combination of clean energy, green hosting, and good ol’ fashioned tree planting. At our website marketing firm for lawyers, doctors and dentists, every new design/SEO client receives the following:
- Peace of mind knowing that their website was developed using 100% wind energy
- 100% Green Website Hosting with lower energy usage and carbon offsetting
- 10 trees planted and 1,000 sq. ft. of rain forest rescued in the client’s name
To plant these trees and to save this rain forest land, Page 1 has teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation. The trees are part of The Foundation’s Trees for America Program, which plants trees in fire damaged forest helping to restore the beauty of the landscape, support the local habitat, and offset carbon output. So far we have planted 4,196 trees and saved more than 504,750 sq. ft. of rain forest!
The Rain Forest Rescue Program helps to save endangered Maya Rainforest located in Belize, Guatemala, and Mexico. Through several efforts that include purchasing acreage, creating nature-based tourism, replanting seedlings, and local community education, The Arbor Day Foundation and your 1,000 sq. ft. are saving one of the world’s most precious resources.
State of Colorado Awards Page 1 Solutions for Environmental Leadership
Page 1 Solutions, LLC has been awarded a Gold Environmental Achievement Award from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This award recognizes the voluntary and significant environmental achievements of Colorado businesses, organizations and state and local government agencies. Part of receiving this award included making a commitment to Colorado that Page 1 will track, document, and improve our environmental standards within an Environmental Management System (EMS); to go beyond-compliance with state and local heath requirements. In 2009, Page 1 was awarded the Bronze level, followed by the Silver level in 2010. Page 1 is committed to continuing to follow gold level standards and help other local businesses achieve environmental leadership as well.
100% Green Website and Email Hosting
By choosing to find green solutions for ourselves and our clients, our Web marketing firm is helping to stimulate new economies and protect our environment. In a massive migration spanning two months, Page 1 Solutions now offers 100% Green Website Hosting and Email Hosting. Provided by the Rackspace “Greenspace Initiative,” our servers use low voltage processors plus energy efficient drives and memory. Our processors use 28% less watts, our RAM uses 40% less energy, and our drives use 20% less power.
For the energy that we do use, Rackspace is working with the non-profit NativeEnergy, Inc. to offset the CO2 emissions. Our carbon footprint is calculated by annual energy use and converted into carbon credits, which are spent on renewable energy projects like wind farms and methane farms.
This means that all of our clients’ websites are hosted on 100% green servers and all of our clients' emails are sent from 100% green servers.
Green Energy - Windsource® from Xcel Energy®
In August 2008, Page 1 Solutions decided to take "going green" one giant step forward by joining the Windsource® from Xcel Energy® plan. This means that 100% of our electricity comes from Colorado wind farms. This program is Green-e Certified and meets the environmental and consumer protection standards established by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions.
Page 1 Solutions becomes a Green Power Partner with the EPA
Page 1 has teamed up with the EPA to ensure that we’re doing everything we can to be good stewards of our planet. This Green Power Partnership certifies that we purchase green power in amounts that meet EPA’s requirements.
"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would like to thank Page 1 Solutions, LLC for making a significant green power purchase. Your commitment, and those of other Green Power Partners, helps to reduce the risks associated with climate change by supporting technologies that are more sustainable for businesses and communities.”
Committed to Reducing Waste
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Page 1 Solutions have teamed up to become WasteWise Partners. This partnership is a demonstration of our commitment to waste reduction and to helping ensure our planet stays healthy. To facilitate this partnership, Page 1 is measuring and reducing its municipal waste. We have set specific goals based on total poundage of waste, we are developing effective monitoring systems, and we are increasing our employee education and finding new products to recycle. We have already stopped using Styrofoam and paper kitchen products, we are buying 100% recycled printer paper, we are recycling our aluminum and plastic, and we are recycling old computers and monitors.
Supporting Green Education
Page 1 Solutions has worked with a number of non-profit organizations in the past, and we hope to work with many more in the future. For the last few years, Page 1 has worked closely with EnergyLiteracy.org, a non-partisan, non-profit, public education organization. By providing green hosting, Web design, Web development, search engine positioning, and Web marketing, EnergyLiteracy.org has grown its online presence and helped to spread energy literacy to all parts of our country.
In-House Recycling and Conservation
For years, the employees of Page 1 Solutions have made recycling of aluminum and plastic part of the everyday routine at the company. But now, there are even more “green” behaviors throughout the office.
In an effort to conserve energy and reduce the company’s electric bill, all employees have begun turning off their computers (or monitors) before leaving for the day, and fewer and fewer light bulbs can be seen burning in the offices and cubes throughout the complex.
Several employees have arranged for car pool groups to use less gas and to reduce fuel emissions. Every now and again, you’ll even see a bicycle parked in a vacant cube in the building.
In an effort to minimize our use of paper in the company, photocopying and printing intra-office memos and documents has been reduced.
All of our restrooms have had new towel dispensers installed to minimize the waste of paper towels. By installing a new dishwasher, we have eliminated the need for plastic utensils, Styrofoam cups and paper plates.
