11 Ways to Build Your Practice's Brand

Online advertising continues to grow more and more competitive, with more and more marketing dollars being allocated toward it. There are a lot of things businesses can be doing to help grow their overall online exposure and brand, most of which are the same things that your competitors are doing. This is why it is essential to continue to find unique ways to build your overall online exposure and brand. Here are tips on how to help build brand awareness (in no particular order):

1. Referral Programs

People will gladly spread the word about your business when they know that there is some sort of added reward.

  • Discount(s)
  • Free gear (toothbrush, Starbucks card, etc.)
  • Entered into a drawing to win a bigger prize (iPad, etc.)

2. Guest Content

Valuable content continues to play a big role in online exposure, and it should not be limited to your own website. Guest blogging on other valuable outlets is a great way to help get your name known in your industry. You can’t go wrong with high-quality and memorable content being promoted outside of your website. This will help introduce your business to new audiences and leave a lasting impression!

3. Infographics

People want their info, but they do not always want to read through a bunch of text. Infographics are a bright, shiny, attractive and colorful way to display interesting info. In addition to this, infographics often get shared regularly, which is why this is such a great tool to grow your brand and create thought leadership.

4. Local Partnerships

 

The search engines (namely Google) have become more and more focused on location. One of the best ways to grow your local presence and your brand is to get involved with local partnerships. This is specifically relevant for local-oriented businesses. Involvement in local activities (festivals, events, etc.), sports teams sponsorships and charity events is a great way to promote your business and get your name out there in a very positive light.

5. Free Stuff

Everyone loves free stuff. This is similar to the referral program I mentioned above, but instead you are simply giving free stuff away out of the kindness of your heart. Some examples could be:

  • Koozies
  • Pens
  • Gift cards
  • Toothbrushes
  • Shirts/hats 

6. Social Media Contests

Social media is a great way to promote your business and brand. Running contests on outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest can spread like wildfire. People share this type of content with friends and family, helping to building your brand awareness. Some examples of contests could be:

  • Submit a photo or video for people to vote on
  • Ask specific questions and then reward those who participate

7. Social Media Presence

As I mentioned above, social media is a great way to really promote your business and brand. More and more people use these kinds of outlets as a way to gather additional information. Some even use this as their main source for information. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and YouTube are the typical outlets most think of when they think of social media. Another outlet that continues to grow and has a lot of value is LinkedIn.

Recently, LinkedIn began letting all users publish posts right via the platform's publishing tool. If your posts get enough attention, they could wind up in the LinkedIn home stream for many users. Additionally, having posts attached to your LinkedIn account can also help establish you as a thought leader!

8. Podcasts

This is not something that I have had a lot of experience with personally, which isn’t to say that there is no value here because there is. Starting your own industry podcast where you interview other industry experts and/or be the interviewee is a great way to build your brand while also developing relationships with others in your field. 

9. PPC

As SEO becomes more and more competitive, PPC can be a really smart solution for getting your brand seen on the search engines. Using targeted keyword research, you can gain exposure by showing up for relevant searches. Even if your PPC ad does not generate clicks, it is still promoting your name at the top of the search results. This can make a big impression and is great for building brand awareness.

10. Remarketing

Remarketing is a great way to build brand awareness by placing ads across the Web on websites that previous visitors to your website are using. Eventually they will be seeing your business everywhere (favorite blogs, shopping sites, etc.). Doing this will give the impression that your brand is much larger than it may actually be, which can be a great way to drive more conversions. 

11. Uniqueness

It’s competitive out there, so one way to really make you stand out to both prospective clients and the search engines is to find ways to be unique. Be creative and utilize some of the suggestions I have detailed in this blog!
