Page 1 Solutions has been an active supporter of the
Jeffco Action Center, Inc. for almost two years now, and in that time, the staff has collected thousands of dollars worth of food, school supplies, clothing, household items and monetary donations for needy residents of Jefferson County, Colorado.
Since 1968, the Jeffco Action Center, which is a nonprofit human services organization, has provided immediate response to basic human needs and has worked with the recipients of their donations to help them become more self sufficient. The Action Center will be featured on the highly respected show,
Bill Moyer’s Journal, on Friday, August 22, 2008. This segment of the show focuses on issues of poverty in Jefferson County against the backdrop of the upcoming Democratic National Convention. The show will air at 9:00 p.m. on Rocky Mountain PBS.
For two years now, we have collected school supplies throughout the summer to help students returning to school be better prepared for the school year. This year, Page 1 added a bit of competitive flair to the collection of the supplies and awarded a $100 gas gift card to the person who donated the most school supplies. This year, the person who received the card for having the most donations submitted in her name was our SEO department’s Stephanie Graham. Having quite a long commute every day from Colorado Springs, Stephanie has certainly put this card to good use! A big thank you goes out to all who donated this year to our county’s students and future leaders.
Last November, many of you will remember we held our very own holiday casino night where we raised a great deal of money for the Jeffco Action Center and another cause we hold dear, The
Second Wind Fund, whose purpose is to raise money for teen suicide prevention.
In addition to our big push to collect school supplies in the summer, November and December are big months for the collection of food and supplies, due to the holidays and the cold winter months. Food, coats, blankets, and household items are needed very much at this time of year, and Page 1 staff members were carting supplies over by the truckload last year. To date, we have taken 20 truckloads of food and supplies to the Action Center, and there is no end in sight to our generosity.
