Making The Website A Priority

When you embark upon a Web marketing campaign, it's important to keep the website on your radar as a high priority. Occasionally one of our clients will drop off of the face of the earth. They don't respond to emails, don't return our calls, and needless to say, don't get back to us on critical issues like content or design edits. This only hurts you, the client. Your project loses valuable momentum, and your search engine listings will eventually suffer. Sure, we're self-sufficient and can keep things going for quite some time, but in markets that require blogging and regular content additions, we typically need your input. Even if you want to completely turn the project over to us and just want us to post everything live without you even looking at it, it is important for us to stay in touch. We need you to know what's going on so that you know exactly how your marketing budget is being spent. We want you to feel in control and excited about your campaign's progress. So, be involved and make the Web a priority in your practice. The more effort you put in, the better your results and return on investment will be.

Does Web Marketing Make Sense for Orthodontists?

Absolutely! Google's numbers prove it. Even compared to cosmetic dentistry, the number of searches for orthodontists is way up there. Part of this is undoubtedly due to problems with dental insurance coverage of braces. People are left to find an orthodontist on their own. Check out the numbers:

Keywords Local Search Volume: June
braces 1,500,000
dental braces 33,100
cosmetic dentistry 246,000
orthodontics 450,000
cosmetic dentist 301,000
orthodontist 450,000

Starting Over With Website Design

It hurts to start over, but it's necessary some times. I've talked with people that have spent thousands of dollars developing a site, only to find out that it isn't compatible with SEO. In other cases, I've talked to clients that have invested tons of time and money only to end up with an end result that they don't like. Just today I spoke with a LASIK practice that hasn't even finished the project they're working on, but they know that it's time to pull the plug and cut their losses. Starting over is never any fun, but many times it's the only way to move onward and upward with your Web marketing.

Facebook & Google

I read a great article about Facebook's rivalry with Google. Facebook has aspirations of being the end-all-be-all of online activity in terms of social interaction AND search by means of tying in our social circle's online knowledge base with your search results. They want to go beyond just searching based on keywords and links. It's an interesting idea, and is already changing how we go about Web marketing. For now, Facebook has contented itself with an alliance with Microsoft, featuring the Bing browser in its website for Web search.
