The Internet: taking over our lives

Most people can remember their first 8 track, or maybe first tape, or how about CD. But can you remember the first time you ever got on the internet? Many of us probably have no recollection of when we first ‘got online’- but now can you imagine a day, a week or even a month without it? According to a research study by TNS research group, the internet in the short time it has been available has taken over our lives.

The research information brings to light some interesting facts. Never before in the world have so many people been connected. Never before have we had one place to look up information, set a calendar, do our banking, watch our favorite TV shows- all at once.

On an average day, people spend about 1/3 of their leisure time on the internet. So, what is everyone doing online? According to the article 81 percent of people are using a search engine, 76 percent are looking up news, 74 percent are banking, 69 percent are researching products, and rounding out the top 5- videos are at 51 percent.

These statistics show how important it is to be a big player on the internet. With so many people working and just being online in general, every exposure our clients can get is better for their business. By having a website on the first page, a pay per click campaign, or a video on You Tube, there are people out there ready to see and looking for this information. The question is, are you putting your company in the right position to be seen?
