The Growing Influence of Video Marketing vs. Search Marketing

A recent report from IDC analyzes that search marketing is to be overtaken by video and rich media ads by 2011. IDC highlights that during the forecasted period, as more and more companies are moving marketing budgets to the web, Internet Advertising will show three times as fast a growth rate over all other advertising. The growth of revenue in Internet Advertising will increase from 16.9 billion in 2006 to 31.3 billion by 2011.

It looks like Google and Yahoo have been anticipating this move. Google recently purchased YouTube when it already had a format for displaying video. Furthermore, both Google and Yahoo have recently purchased DoubleClick and RightMedia (respectively) giving them additional advertising avenues and metrics for tracking.

This doesn’t mean you should be abandoning your search marketing efforts, the IDC report highlights a change in the overall direction of the Internet. As an advertiser, in a niche market, you have the opportunity to join the big guys by adding video marketing to your local search marketing as another means to get your message out.

Squidoo - Promoting Business

Ok, anyone with a business to promote online should go to squidoo right now! Regardless if you have a website (although it is even more helpful if do have one).

This site is extremely cool for promoting anything. It takes about 15 minutes to learn, and once you’ve got the basics down – it becomes real simple.

Here’s the deal. You make what they call a “lens” – which in reality is a web page. Then you get to add anything and everything you could possibly think of to this lens. So, if you want to promote your business, a particular service, product, anything at all, you add it to your lens. Basically, you’re creating a webpage within the squidoo website to promote yourself – and the best part is – IT’S COMPLETELY FREE!!

That’s right, with the amount of money most folks spend in advertising to position themselves higher in the search engines this is a very cost-effective solution. And Google loves to promote squidoo pages on the 1st page too!!

Now, I know what you might be thinking, “But I don’t know how to create a webpage, so what makes you think I can create a this "lens" thing?”

My response: Everything is automated, so if you can type, you can create a lens. It’s that simple. Here’s a great example of a cosmetic dentistry guide that some marketer created.

The above lens page is hitting on all cylinders. It’s incredibly informative, interactive, and it promotes dozens of dentists throughout the U.S.

Now, I’m not saying, you have to go this deep – but at least put some information about your business in – something useful to people, and see what happens.

Remember, it’s free! Happy Squidooing!

More About Blog Inspiration

What I think my associate, Noel, is trying to say is:

Here are some things to consider to get you into a "blogging" mentality.

Write about what you know about:
You deal with patients or clients on a daily basis. Whenever any issue or circumstance presents itself, make a note of it. After a week, try to have around 5 or 6 notes on potential topics. At the end of the week, write a paragraph or two on that topic. You will often find yourself writing more than just two paragraphs.

By just starting to write, your creative juices will start flowing and you'll be able to kick out an article in no time.
