Two New Website Design Awards

Page 1 is happy to announce that we recently won two new website design awards from Hermes Creative Awards. Both were Gold Winner awards.

The first award, for Best Website Overall, is for Pacifica Cosmetic Surgery Center in Newport Beach, CA. We have been working with Dr. Hendricks since 2005. In addition to redesigning his main cosmetic surgery site, we recently developed a secondary website for him that focuses exclusively on breast augmentation.

The second award, for Best Website Home Page, is for Dr. Michelle Spring, a plastic surgeon in San Diego, CA. Dr. Spring started working with Page 1 in 2008 to develop a custom website for her plastic surgery practice. We designed the website and wrote all the content for the site.

Congratulations to all of the people who worked on these projects! It's a job well done!

Social Media Marketing For Lawyers

Sara Schwarz (our Social Media Marketer/Writer and I attended a seminar hosted by Alyn-Weiss and Associates and Ginny Ford. The topic was Legal Marketing and Human Resources as it relates to Social Media and Social Media Websites, like www.Linkedin.com, www.facebook.com, etc.

The summary:
1- Attorneys and firms will need to address the issue of social media sooner rather than later - even very conservative organizations like American Bar Association and Martindale Hubbell have invested in creating social media forums/sites for the associates and members.
2- Firms to develop a real strategy to effectively leverage - identifying target sites, what information to provide, creating the time and investing the resources.
3- Firms will need to create some policy, particularly larger firms, to address issues such as professional conduct, solicitation, disclosure, etc.

Page 1 Team Is Growing

Page 1 is proud to announce that we have recently brought on three new employees. Even in these difficult economic times, we are finding a need to create new positions within the company in order to provide our client's with outstanding service and expertise.

One of the new positions created with that of an in-house Videographer. Andrew Harris was recently hired to fill that position. Page 1 has worked with Andrew over the last year on various video projects and we are so pleased to have him come in-house to work with us. Video on the Web is continuing to grow and he will allow Page 1 to provide our client's with custom video production.

Another new position is that of Junior Account Manager, which was filled by Drew Horst. Drew comes to us with a background in marketing and he will be taking over close to 150 accounts! He came highly recommended by a former employee and we all know he is a welcome addition to the team.

The last position that was filled was that of a Social Media Marketer. Sara Schwarz joined the team on Monday and is excited to work in a newly created position. She will be helping clients with social networking, online reputation management, and consistent R&D for Page 1's new Social Media Marketing Program.

Welcome aboard everyone! We are very excited to have you as a part of the team.

Happy Earth Day

To celebrate Earth Day, Page 1 Solutions has teamed up with the EPA’s WasteWise program to cut down on municipal waste. Our partnership with Waste Wise includes measuring all paper, cardboard, aluminum, plastic, and industrial waste. Our next step was to set goals and develop effective monitoring systems.

One goal of Page 1 Solutions is to increase employee education and to find new products to recycle. Our office had already stopped using paper and Styrofoam, which is saving us about $150 a year, and we already use 100% recycled paper. We also recycle all of our soda cans and plastic bottles and recycle our old computers and monitors.

In the years to come, Page 1 is committed to finding new ways to make this the greenest website marketing company!

For more information about Page 1’s Green Solutions, visit us online at http://www.page1solutions.com/green_solutions.html.

Using Social Media to Promote Web Writing

Writers are not generally famed for their sociability. Sometimes this reputation is justified. William Faulkner walked around his home town and generally ignored all the citizens, seeing instead a fictitious town populated by characters of his own creation. But in many cases it is not. And when it comes to web writing, no writer is an island. Links are the key component of hypertext, and the quality of a hypertext improves as its links become more comprehensive and far-ranging. This is also one component influencing the page rank and search results produced by Google and other search engines.

One way to generate additional links, and, potentially, web traffic, is to utilize social media sites. Jonathan Fashbaugh talked about this his post on the importance of search engine optimization (SEO) for businesses. We have also talked about the significance of social media sites on our SEO 101 blog. Page 1 Solutions is about more than talking about this developing trend in SEO. We're out there, and everyone, from the account managers to the writers is getting in the act, albeit some more slowly than others.

As a starting place, all of the employees at Page 1 Solutions are being asked to maintain accounts on several major social media sites. Here are the ones we're beginning with, along with my profile for each:

· Google Profiles: Matthew Candelaria

· LinkedIn: Matthew Candelaria

· Naymz: Matthew Candelaria

· Facebook: Matthew Candelaria

· Xing: Matthew Candelaria

· Plaxo: Matthew Candelaria

· Fastpitch: Matthew Candelaria

Of all these, Fastpitch is, I think, the least useful. To be able to have any connections at all requires a premium membership, which few people are going to spring for. Facebook comes in a close second because, although it has the potential of generating huge amounts of traffic, it also has the potential for wasting tons of your employees' time. It takes supreme willpower to avoid getting distracted by different apps on Facebook.

I can't decide whether Naymz or Plaxo is my favorite. Plaxo has great functionality for finding contacts right away. Not only does it allow you to find many of them quickly, it is like a cool game where each possible contact you pick vanishes to be replaced by another one. You want to catch 'em all. But unfortunately I'm only friends with Caterpie, Beedrill, Nidorina, and Krabby.

Naymz, on the other hand, has a very good functionality for showing links. For writers and other web marketers, this is especially handy because that's what this is all about. The way Naymz is set up, it allows me to give a title that links and a description, both of which are displayed on my profile. Currently, my Naymz profile highlights my work on the blogs of Dr. Lefkovits, a New York plastic surgeon and The Centre, P.C., a plastic surgery center in Indiana, and on the website of Greg Stoner, an eminent domain lawyer in Florida, but I will add more soon.

The other writers should soon be filling out their own social media profiles, at which point I'll talk about some of their projects as well.

If you want to ask writing questions of me, you can engage me through any of the sites above, but contact Page 1 Solutions for internet marketing.
