New Page 1 Employees

It seems that no matter what we do, we are almost always adding new staff to the team. Today, we have two new employees starting. Robin, is our new web designer. She will be replacing DanS who is leaving (sadly for all of us) to take a job in Indianapolis. We will miss him, but look forward to working with Robin.

Debbie is joining our search engine optimization team. She is now the newest member of that team that also recently added Nathan. We have been continuing to make great strides with our search engine optimization results and look forward to continued improvement in the weeks and months to come with all this new talent.

We also recently added two new writers - Warren and Jenny. These two are both exceptional writers. This is a new area for Page 1 employees to concentrate on. However, as we have seen the importance of content continue to grow, we decided that it was time to create our own website content development department and stop relying exclusively on freelance writers. We still use lots of freelance writers, but now we have much greater capabilities in-house.

Interesting Q & A Program About Lasik

I caught this highly informational program on ResearchChannel.org about Ophthalmology. Many of our ophthalmology internet marketing clients use video on their sites. A Q&A session like this on tape would be very attractive to the average Lasik candidate today where they know that the surgery exists, but they have many questions and concerns about the surgery.

The program on ResearchChannel.org discussed Lasik, PRK, Cataract Surgery, and Intraocular Lenses such as Crystalens or the ReSTOR lens. Dr. Manche explained the differences between nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia. He discussed the current studies regarding the long term results of laser vision correction. Check out this video. If you're an ophthalmologist, and you conduct a regular lasik seminar, consider recording a question and answer section on video, or even just audio, and put that media on your website.

Fads Will Come and Pass, But Content Will Always Reign

Every day, something else comes up on the Internet that vies for the attention of your web marketing budget. Some of them are worthwhile, and shouldn't really be classified as fads, but for the lay person who doesn't have the time to research each new development in web marketing, there is one investment that will always pay off in the long run: content.

By adding new content to your site, you invest in the site's long term success by adding to the true substance of your site. Incoming links are also valuable, but those are temporary in nature. What happens when the sites providing you incoming links go offline? That benefit to your website is lost.

So, when you have the volition to beef up your web presence, go for content!

Patience is still a virtue!

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) doesn’t immediately change your results or happen overnight. It is an involved process that takes time and starts as early as your website design.

When sites are designed using frames, built all in flash or have convoluted code, it can make a huge difference in the type of results that you can obtain, unless you are strictly using paid advertising.

True SEO work takes time. When we work with a client’s website, we will look at the overall picture. Whether designing a site from scratch or working with an inherited design, there are a few things that need to be in place in order for us to guarantee our results.

You need to have a site that has a user-friendly design with clean code. Content is king and I can’t stress that enough. In order to compete the site needs to have a stable of content that not only covers all of your general information, but also gets into in-depth coverage of your practice areas, frequently asked questions and clear information about your business.

Remember the internet is tool for research, provide the user with everything they need to know and make them feel comfortable contacting you because you know your business and can do a good job for them. Use calls-to-action to move users through the site to contact you.

Once the design has been completed the process of “true” optimization begins. This means going through the site page by page and targeting the keywords that you want your site to show up for on the search engines. When the site optimization has been completed, we move on to the registration and submissions to the search engines.

Another key ingredient in search engine optimization is link building. This process should be ongoing and a natural part of your site progression. If your site truly has in-depth content, people will want to link to you as a resource of information. You can also exchange links with associations or other companies that you regularly do business with.
Just remember, that above board tactics may take longer to get results but ultimately you will win in the end. Your site won’t get banned or disappear from the results for using “black-hat” techniques. Your website traffic and business will grow and prove that internet marketing is truly a smart medium to allocate some of your advertising budget to.
