The Page 1 Steeches

For the month of November, the gentlemen of Page 1 Solutions decided to become Mo Bros (mustache brothers) and raise money for a great cause. So, they came to work on November 1st, clean-shaven, and dedicated to not shaving their mustache region for an entire month, no matter how itchy it might get! The reason for this decision? Movember, a combination of the slang word for mustache, "Mo", and November. The Movember Foundation, a worldwide foundation, was created to raise money and awareness about men's health, primarily prostate and testicular cancer.

Excluding skin cancer, prostate cancer is the number one form of cancer to affect men, with estimates that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, and 1 in 36 men will die from this disease. The key to survival is early detection and aggressive treatment. There are still a lot of "unknowns" about this disease, but there is focused dedication to further research. For those who are interested in learning more, The American Cancer Society has put together a very comprehensive document on Cancer Facts & Figures 2010, which includes a special section on prostate cancer.

So, dedicated to not shaving, the guys settled on a catchy name, The Page 1 Steeches, and then set out to raise funds for the cause. By the end of the month, they had managed to raise $1,000 in donations!! Plus, they had their fun "Gala Parté" at Pint's Pub in Denver, followed by a trip to Cap City Tavern for more festivities.

Even though November is over, it doesn't mean Movember is over. The organization works hard throughout the year to continue their mission of education, research and raising funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Livestrong. If you didn't get a chance to donate in November, but still want to support the cause, you can check out Movember's website for more information.
